The partnership at Aras Kargo Has Been Strengthened

The partnership between Austrian Post, which became a shareholder in Turkey’s leading last mile delivery company Aras Kargo in 2020, and Baran Aras, Vice Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Chairman of the Board Aras Holding, has been reaffirmed with a new agreement. Peter Umundum, Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Member of the Executive Board at Austrian Post stated: “We have full confidence in Turkey and in our partnership with Baran Aras. We will continue to grow with new investments.”

The partnership structure of Aras Kargo, Türkiye’s leading delivery company, continues to grow stronger. Under the agreement reached between Austrian Post and Baran Aras, the current shareholding structure of the company will be maintained for the next 10 years.

Austrian Post, which has accelerated investments in operational efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability at Aras Kargo, aims to further strengthen the company’s market position in the upcoming period, expand into global markets, and differentiate through high-quality, customer-focused services.

Austrian Post first entered the Turkish market in 2013 by acquiring a 25% stake in Aras Kargo. Then, in 2020, it increased its share in the company to 80% through an additional investment. The remaining 20% of the company is owned by Baran Aras, Vice Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Chairman of the Board Aras Holding.

Peter Umundum, Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Member of the Executive Board at Austrian Post, stated that Austrian Post has full confidence in both Turkey and Aras Kargo, and said:

“We are very pleased to take our long-standing and strong collaboration with Baran Aras one step further. In a strategic, dynamic, and growing market like Turkey, which plays a key role in last mile logistics, Aras Kargo’s strong operational capabilities are of great value to our organization as we expand into new markets. With the renewed agreement with Baran Aras, we will continue our partnership for another 10 years as part of this success story. The continuation of our partnership is a reflection of both the trust-based nature of our relationship and our confidence in our long-term growth objectives.”

New international markets are on the horizon

Highlighting Aras Kargo’s critical role as a strategic base in Austrian Post’s expansion beyond Europe, Umundum stated:

“Two years ago, Aras Kargo began its international expansion with Azerbaijan, which we have since advanced into new markets such as Georgia and Uzbekistan. With an investment of approximately 1.5 billion Turkish Lira over the past five years, we launched subsidiaries like Aras Global—facilitating global expansion for e-commerce businesses—and Aras Digital, which develops sector-specific technology solutions. Through these initiatives, we have broadened both our service areas and our range of products and services.”

Umundum highlighted that over the past five years, Aras Kargo has increased its operational efficiency and processing capacity by renewing its transfer centers in Ankara and Istanbul. He also emphasized that the company has accelerated its green transformation in parcel delivery with electric vehicles, and launched its Green District Project—reflecting Aras Kargo’s sustainability vision—starting in Bodrum.

Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Member of the Executive Board at Austrian Post Peter Umundum added, “Aras Kargo will continue to create value with innovative technologies and creative service solutions in line with its vision of becoming a regional leader.”

Baran Aras, Vice Chairman of the Board of Aras Kargo and Chairman of the Board Aras Holding stated: “We are extremely pleased to see Aras Kargo evolving into an international force with its technology development capabilities and next-generation services. I am proud to be a part of this growth journey.”
