Aras Kargo added a new event to their traditional coastal cleaning activities in cooperation with DenizTemiz Derneği (TURMEPA). On July 28, World Nature Conservation Day, Aras Kargo employees and TURMEPA volunteers emphasized environmental awareness with a clean-up at Suadiye Beach.
Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability with social responsibility projects, Aras Kargo continues to take concrete steps to uphold their responsibility towards nature through regular coastal cleaning activities. As part of July 28th World Nature Conservation Day, Aras Kargo once again showed its respect for the environment and conducted a coastal cleanup in cooperation with TURMEPA at Suadiye Beach in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul.
With the participation of Aras Kargo employees and TURMEPA volunteers, plastic, glass, metal and household wastes accumulated along the coast were removed. Aras Kargo executives also participated in the event and 36 kilograms of waste was collected from the beach. The collected wastes were sorted by type and delivered to the municipal teams, while the data obtained was transferred to the Zero Waste Blue system (Sıfır Atık Mavi sistem) of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. During the event where information was provided to raise environmental awareness, it was noteworthy that plastic bottles, food packages, cigarette butts and metal cans were the most common items found.
“We carry all that is good and valuable to tomorrow”
Drawing attention to the company's vision on sustainability, Aygün Mandıralıoğlu, Sustainability Manager of Aras Kargo, noted: "As Aras Kargo, we put sustainability at the center of our business processes and we implement projects that will provide environmental and social benefits in line with our vision of ‘We carry all that is good and valuable to tomorrow’. We do not only carry parcels; we are also aware that we carry the responsibility towards our world. In line with this awareness, we have transformed our operational processes to reduce environmental impact, and we also carry out activities to protect nature with the voluntary participation of our employees in the field. Within the scope of the “We Carry the Blue of the Sea to Tomorrow” project we conducted in collaboration with TURMEPA, we organized coastal cleaning in 19 different locations across Türkiye in 9 years and prevented nearly 4 tons of waste from reaching our seas. In this context, the coastal cleaning event we organized at Suadiye Beach on July 28, World Nature Conservation Day, in cooperation with TURMEPA, is a concrete and powerful example of our sustainability strategy in the field. In every step we take, we act not only for today but also for tomorrow, and we take responsibility to leave a better world for future generations."
In 2011, Aras Kargo established Türkiye's largest fleet of electric vehicles and pioneered the sector in eco-friendly transportation, serving all over the country with their growing fleet. Aras Kargo, which conducts projects to sort and recycle waste, also raises awareness through environmental volunteering programs. Aiming for a world that is equal for all and better and stable for future generations in its sustainability journey, Aras Kargo stands out as the first company to publish a sustainability report in the shipping industry.
