Aras Kargo cleaned the Riva shores with national athletes

The Eco-Friendly Aras Team platform, consisting of volunteer employees of Aras Kargo, has been continuing to clean the coasts all over Turkey with the cooperation of the DenizTemiz Association/TURMEPA since 2016. Aras Kargo carried out this year"s coastal cleaning with the support of the Turkish Football Federation, of which it is the official sponsor, as part of Environmental Week. At the event attended by football players with crescent/star on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, a total of 44 kilograms of waste were collected and recycled on the shores of Riva, where the national team facilities are located.

Aras Kargo, Turkey"s leading and innovative delivery company, continues to increase its contribution to the environment and society within the framework of its sustainability approach. Aras Kargo, which has carried out many coastal cleaning activities in different provinces with DenizTemiz Association/ TURMEPA to contribute to the environment and natural life, collected more than 4 tons of waste in total and removed it from the seas. By recycling the waste collected on 15 different coasts for the economy in 7 years, 2 thousand 480 kilos of carbon emissions were reduced. This amount corresponds to a reduction equivalent to the carbon dioxide captured by 107 trees during their lifetime.

Utku Ayyarkın, the General Manager of Aras Kargo, Barbara Hagen, the CFO of Aras Kargo, the deputy general manager of the company, Mine Göknar, the Deputy General Manager of DenizTemiz Derneği/TURMEPA, Eco-Friendly Aras Team attended the event organized within the scope of Turkey Environmental Week, which was celebrated under the theme of “Zero Waste” this year. Coming to the area to support coastal cleaning, National Football Team Coach Stefan Kuntz, A National Football Team player Ferdi Kadioglu, Kaan Ayhan, Rıdvan Yılmaz, Yunus Akgün, Eren Elmalı, Doğan Alemdar, Salih Özcan, and Cenk Özkaçar, as well as e-National Team players Serhan Yeniaras and Emirhan Erdem, accumulated 44 kilograms of waste in a short time.

Utku Ayyarkın, the General Manager of Aras Kargo, said that "Young generations are much more sensitive to topics, such as environment, climate, and sustainability, and they express their demand from both the government and the business world to increase their contributions in this regard. They see producing social benefits and contributing to the environment as the main responsibilities of companies. Protecting and embellishing our coasts and transferring this wealth to future generations is a task that must be fulfilled both from an environmental and economic point of view. During this process, as a brand that not only supports sports but also cares about sustainability, we cleaned the shores of Riva with the participation of the technical director and players of our National Football Team and the e-National Team players within the scope of our cooperation with the Turkish Football Federation. For their contributions to this event, which is very valuable for our environment and coasts, I would like to thank TURMEPA, the Turkish Football Federation"s officials, our esteemed coach and athletes, and of course, the Nature-Friendly Aras, who have been carrying on these activities voluntarily and with determination for many years.

Ayyarkın stated that, as Aras Kargo, they continue their eco-friendly projects with great determination and that they aim to reach 0 waste by 2050.
