Leadership Appointments at Aras Kargo in Line with the LEAD 2030 Strategy

In line with its LEAD 2030 strategy, Aras Kargo is implementing a comprehensive transformation of its management structure to support the growth objectives of its parent company, Austrian Post, in Turkey and Central & Eastern Europe.


With its new management structure and strategic transformation initiatives, Aras Kargo aims to strengthen its pioneering and innovative position in the courier industry and continue its expansion in global markets. The company has initiated a new organizational structure in its senior management, in parallel with its sustainability, digitalization, and regional growth targets aligned with its 2030 vision.


Within this framework, Barbara Hagen, who has served as Aras Kargo's CFO since 2020, has been appointed as the new CEO, taking over from Carsten Wallmann. She also becomes the first female member of the company's Board of Directors. In her new role, in addition to her responsibilities in Turkey, she will lead the Strategy, Information Technologies, and Human Resources functions.


Utku Ayyarkın, who has led the company's global growth, technology, and operational excellence-focused transformation with his 20 years of experience, will continue to serve as General Manager, responsible for strengthening the operations in Türkiye. He will remain a member of the Aras Kargo Board of Directors and will report directly to the Board.


Carsten Wallmann, who hands over the CEO role to Barbara Hagen, will continue his duties as a Member of the Aras Kargo Board of Directors. In the new period, he will focus on the group's growth strategies in Central and Eastern Europe



Barbara Hagen – CEO and Board Member, Aras Kargo

After completing her postgraduate studies in international business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and earning an LL.M. in international tax law, Barbara Hagen began her career in the merger and acquisition department at Mobilkom Austria. She later continued in the same capacity at A1 Telekom Austria Group.


In 2011, she joined Austrian Post, where she subsequently led the corporate mergers and acquisitions department, as well as the branch network and banking controlling team. Hagen, who also serves as an Independent Board Member for Rai Insurance, joined Aras Kargo as CFO in the last quarter of 2020 and now continues her career as the CEO of the company.


Utku Ayyarkın - General Manager and Board Member, Aras Kargo


Utku Ayyarkın graduated from Sivas Cumhuriyet University with a degree in Economics in 2002 and began his career in 2004 by becoming a franchisee for Aras Kargo. He was appointed as the Trabzon Regional Manager in 2007 and Franchise Manager in 2008, later serving as the Istanbul Regional Manager. In 2013, he was assigned as the Director of Strategy and Business Development for Aras Kargo.


Following his role as Assistant General Manager of Operations in 2014 and Assistant General Manager of Sales between 2016-2018, he was appointed as the Assistant General Manager of Operations and Channel Management in April 2018. Having successfully served as the General Manager of Aras Kargo since May 2019, Utku Ayyarkın has been instrumental in driving the company's technological transformation for over 20 years.


Carsten Wallmann - Board Member, Aras Kargo


Born in Germany in 1973, Wallmann completed his Master's degree in Law at the University of Freiburg in Germany. He subsequently completed his clerkship training at the Berlin Higher Regional Court and earned his doctorate in European labor law from Heidelberg University (Ruprecht Karls University).


Wallmann began his professional career at McKinsey & Company in 2003. In 2014, he joined Austrian Post as the Head of Strategy and Corporate Development. Since April 2014, he has been serving as the Senior Vice President responsible for Türkiye and CEE at Austrian Post.


Appointed as CEO of Aras Kargo in October 2020, Wallmann continues to serve as a Board Member after handing over his CEO responsibilities.
