International Social Responsibility Excellence Award for Nature-friendly Aras Coastal Cleaning Project
Another international award for Aras Kargo
“International Social Responsibility Excellence Award for "Nature-friendly Aras Coastal Cleaning Project"
Aras Kargo, which has been cleaning the coasts of Turkey for three years in line with its nature friendly vision, was awarded at The International CSR Excellence Awards with this project. The nature-friendly Aras platform, consisting of the volunteer employees of Aras Kargo, has prevented the environment from being polluted by more than 3 tons waste in total, by the cooperation with the TURMEPA Deniz Temiz Association by clearing the coasts of all around Turkey.
The awards delivered by UK-based International Corporate Social Responsibility Excellence Awards (The International CSR Excellence Awards), assessing the successful corporate social responsibility projects and mass communication efforts in 17 categories affecting overall society worldwide were distributed in a ceremony held in London. In the organization where corporate social responsibility projects applied from around the world, Aras Kargo was awarded for "Corporate Citizenship" category and "preventing environmental pollution" branch with Coastal cleansing project. Aras Kargo, founded the "Nature-friendly Aras" platform with the volunteer participation of employees in 2014, has been cleaning the coasts of Turkey for three years with TURMEPA Deniz Temiz Association. So far, more than 500 employees participated in the voluntary nature friendly Aras project cleaned Istanbul Kinalıada, Buyukada, Samsun Atakent and Tekkeköy, Izmir, Fethiye, Trabzon, Van Lake, Bodrum, Adana Dam Lake and Burgazada Coasts and in this context, the total of 3 tons waste prevented the excess to pollute the environment.
Ayyarkın: “We have recycled more than 3 tons of waste”
Aras Kargo general manager Utku Ayyarkın specified that The International CSR Excellence Awards is one of the world's most prestigious awards in this field and said that; "As Aras Kargo, we are very proud that our efforts to protect the environment are appreciated with such an important award. Our aim is to implement projects that will add value to our environment and society as we continue to provide the highest level of service to our customers. Pollution in the seas reached a serious level that threatens the health of both sea species and ours. Research by the Turkish Naval Research Foundation indicates that the waste that is found in the seas or on the coasts is mainly due to land-sourced practices. For this reason, we have been cleaning the coasts of our country for three years with the natüre-friendly Aras and TURMEPA Deniz Temiz Association. So far, more than 1.5 tons of plastic, about 1 ton of glass, 333 kilograms of metal and 169 kilograms of paper waste and in total more than 3 tons of wastes have been collected from the coasts and recycled."
Aras Kargo also reduces carbon emissions with electric vehicles
Ayyarkın, noted that the environment-oriented projects are not limited to this and reminded that they have established Turkey's largest electric vehicle fleet in 2011 and said that; "With this application we have not only prevented nearly 6 thousand tons of carbon emissions in 8 years but also we gained of 18 thousand new trees to nature. We achieved 25 percent energy savings with LED lighting and photocell systems we use in our hub centers. We also use cargo bags consisting of eco-friendly materials."

In addition to this award, Aras Kargo has been awarded "Growth Excellence leadership" award in the delivery sector of the world by Frost & Sullivan and Brandon Hall Excellence International Award with the First Step Schools project.
