Aras Kargo, is now a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact

By signing the UN Global Compact, the world"s largest corporate sustainability initiative, Aras Kargo made a strong commitment to developing its sustainability initiatives/projects within the framework of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.


Aras Kargo, making deliveries to millions of households/offices across Turkey with its 16 thousand employees, joined the rank of companies signing the UN Global Compact, to give a new direction to its sustainability initiatives in line with its global goals. By putting its signature, Aras Kargo made a commitment to complying with the 10 fundamental principles in the field of human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption, as well as making an annual report of its initiatives.


Commenting that all companies should assume a high level of responsibility for a balanced and sustainable development of the global economy Aras Kargo’s CEO Utku Ayyarkın said, ‘We cannot ignore the effects of economic growth on the environment and society. It is necessary to act within the framework of global principles on issues that concern the whole world and our future. Aras Kargo always took care to bring a perspective of sustainability to its investments in technology, efficiency and human resources. We aimed at continuously increasing our contributions to the environment and society, and we took important steps in this regard. For this reason, we are extremely happy to have signed the UN Global Compact, the world"s most comprehensive sustainability platform. Under this contract, we made a commitment that would comply with a range of principles from working conditions to human rights, from protecting the environment to fighting corruption. Being a signatory to this global contract will have a very positive impact on Aras Kargo"s future plans for sustainability and also in terms of raising the awareness of our employees. We will continue to see sustainability as a main goal and to continuously build upon the good work we already do, in a way that creates value for our environment, our country, our economy and our society.’



The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact


UN Global Compact consists of 10 principles, which Aras Kargo made a commitment to abide by. The Contract says the following about Human Rights, Labor Standards, Environment and Anti-Corruption:


Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

Principle 2: Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses

Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Principle 4: The termination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.

Principle 5: The effective abolition of child labour.

Principle 6: The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

Principle 8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

Principle 9: Business should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
